From the Launch menu > settings

Click the Personalization icon option

On your left-hand list, Select Start

From within the launch settings, enable Show recently opened particulars in Jump Lists on launch or the taskbar. Panel elect launch also clicks ON for show recently Opened.

Still, the process is a little more straightforward, if you are using Windows 10 or 11 on a tablet or a different touchscreen device. To see recent apps or jumps lists, simply press and hold an app pipe and also tap the Menu icon in the lower-right corner of the pipe to see these same lists.
