If you are also looking for the answer to this question, then the answer is Thinkpad. But knowing only a one-word answer is not enough, you should know about it deeply. So read the complete article and understand it in brief about it.

ThinkPad is a line of business-acquainted laptop computers and tablets designed, developed, and retailed by Lenovo, and formerly IBM. The line was first invented by IBM in 2005 when a part of the company’s business was acquired by Lenovo. ThinkPad has a distinct black, boxlike design language, inspired by a Japanese bento lunchbox, which began in 1990 and is still used in some models. Utmost models also feature a red- multicolored Trackpoint on the keyboard, which has come to an iconic and distinctive design characteristic associated with the ThinkPad line.

Design of ThinkPad:

The design language of the ThinkPad has remained veritably analogous throughout the entire continuance of the brand. Nearly all models are solid black inside and out, with a cubical, right-angled external case design. Some newer Lenovo models incorporate further twisted shells in their design. Numerous, ThinkPads have incorporated magnesium, and carbon fiber corroborated plastic or titanium into their lattice.

The ThinkPad design has been regularly streamlined, developed, and meliorated over the times and the separate brigades at IBM and latterly Lenovo. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of ThinkPad’s preface, David Hill penned and designed an honorary book about ThinkPad design named ThinkPad Design Spirit & Essence.

Features & Technology:

Lenovo Vantage - Previously known as “IBM Access”, later known as “ThinkVantage”, Lenovo Vantage is the suit for computer management applications. This software can provide additional support for system management (backup, encrypting, system driver installation and upgrade, system monitoring, and more). Currently, some old features have been replaced with internal Windows 10 features.

ThinkShutter is a branding of the webcam privacy shutter present in some ThinkPad notebook computers. This is a simple mechanical sliding cover that allows the user to obstruct the view of the webcams. Some add-on webcams and other laptop brands offer a similar feature. IdeaPad notebooks have TrueBlock branding, which locks down their privacy.

TPM Chips

IBM was the first company to support TPM modules. Modern ThinkPads still have this feature as well.

Batteries – Lenovo calls this feature “Battery Safeguard”. It was first introduced in May 2012 on some models. Laptops with this feature scan for security chips that contain only ThinkPad-branded batteries. When third-party batteries are used, the affected ThinkPad flashes a message stating “Genuine Lenovo battery not attached”.

Operating Systems:

ThinkPads have shipped with Microsoft Windows from its inception to the present day. As with MS-DOS, Windows 3.1x was the default operating system on the original ThinkPad 700.

IBM and Microsoft’s combined operating system, known as OS/2, although not as popular, was also made available as an option from the ThinkPad 700 in 1992, and officially until the T43 in 2005 was supported.

IBM took its first way towards ThinkPads with indispensable operating systems when they still certified the 390 models for SUSE Linux in November 1998. The company released its first Linux- grounded unit with the ThinkPad A20m in July 2000. This model, along with the near-released A21m, T21, and T22 models, came with Caldera Open Linux- installed.

In 2020, Lenovo shifted to further heavy support of Linux when they blazoned the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8, P1 Gen 2, and P53 would come with Fedora Linux was made available as a preinstalled option from a major tackle seller. After that, Lenovo began making Ubuntu available as a preinstalled option in about thirty different tablet and desktop models, and Fedora Linux on all of its P Series lineups.

The popularity of IBM laptops:

ThinkPads have enjoyed cult fashion ability numerous times. There are large communities on the internet devoted to the line where people have a conversation about it, partake in prints and videos of their own ThinkPads, etc. Aged ThinkPad models remain popular among suckers and collectors, who still see them as durable, largely usable machines, despite no longer being ultramodern. They’ve gained a character for being dependable, or “imperishable”, indeed. Aftermarket corridor has been developed for some models, similar to the X60 and X200, for which custom motherboards with further ultramodern processors have been created. In January 2015, Lenovo celebrated one hundred million ThinkPads being vented. They also blazoned some new ThinkPad products for the occasion.
