Hello Friends, hope you are doing well!

Many people use laptop keyboards, however, when a problem occurs they don't know how to clean a laptop keyboard because it needs an expert technician to clean the laptop keyboards. Before disassembling, you should clean the laptop keyboard thoroughly of all dust.

How to Clean Laptop Keyboard

It’s easy to operate on a clean laptop keyboard that is free of dust. The proper functioning of the keyboard may get hampered by the dust particles which accumulate on your keyboard. A dust-free keyboard is always preferable to an unclean keyboard. So we are showing you an in-depth cleaning for your keyboard which involves taking your keyboard apart. If you're not comfortable then we suggest you stick to the "shake and vacuum" method of cleaning.

The steps mentioned here for the corded keyboard, however, follow these same steps with a cordless keyboard as well.

Step 1: Open Your Keyboard

Firstly you have to clean the keyboard by taking it apart and then flipping it over by removing the screws in the back. Don’t leave it loose and rightly tight it by not losing the screws. For you, the best idea is to keep them at someplace where they can't just roll away like a bottle cap.

When all are out you'll have to carefully pry them apart from the two halves of the keyboard as they may be stuck pretty well together. Therefore do not be afraid to use a bit of force. Prying open one corner and then working your way around the keyboard is the best way to do it.

We recommend that you don't pry the keyboard open on your lap because when you open it all the dirt that's inside the keyboard will fall out onto you.

We also recommend that if you're trying to pry the keyboard open and there seems to be "sticking" at one place then make sure you've removed all the screws. Be sure to check the labels and the rubber feet.

Step 2: Go inside the keyboard

When you open the keyboard you will see something that you are curious about, so please check out the image.

To just clean the grease out from between the keys you need to be concerned with half the keys. If some of the letters aren't typing then you'll need to deal with both the halves.

Step 3: The Circuit Boards should be cleaned

If still, your keys are working fine then you can skip this step. If not, then clean between the flexible circuit boards. You need to lift each layer and use a can of compressed air to blow away any dirt. You can find compressed air in almost any office supply store or department store. You need not bother removing the solid board as it is unlikely that anything will go under it. When you lift the flexible boards be sure not to touch any of the printed lines as it could damage the keyboard.

Step 4: How to Clean Keyboard Keys

By removing the keys you can easily clean them. To do this you need to have a small pair of pliers so as toy push the tabs together. If it doesn't work well for you then you can also use the pliers to grip one tab and then carefully push it towards the other. A small piece of metal under the space bar will enable it to spring back after being pressed as it greatly varies from one keyboard to the next. Then you can leave this key alone altogether or carefully see how the spring sits as you remove the space bar. The keys will, either way, drop out from the front of the keyboard as they are removed.

When all the keys are out you need to simply rinse them at the front of the keyboard and not the circuit boards as it is off in a sink or tub and then dry them off well.

We recommend that you write down the order of the keys or take a picture so that you can put them back in properly.

Step 5: Finally you have to put them all back together.

After cleaning and drying all the keys it's time for you to put your keyboard back together.
First, put all the keys back into their proper positions by remembering where that is not done by you. To do this simply line each key up with the hole it left and press it back into the place so that you can click it when fully inserted. If you choose to remove the space bar be sure to insert the spring properly. Unlike your other keys, this one should spring back when pressed even when the keyboard is apart.

After all the keys are back it is time to put the two halves back together. To do this you need to lay half the circuit board on a hard surface and place the half with the keys on top of it. Click by gently pressing down on the top half. Be sure that you go all the way around the keyboard by making sure it fits together properly. Then flip the keyboard over and replace the screws again by leaving it loose and then rightly tightening it. You need to put the four corner screws first followed by the center before replacing any other screws as the back won't bend and make other screws more difficult to get in.

Caution: Please note that we will not be responsible for any damages or injuries sustained while following these instructions. While we strive to make everything as safe as possible, however, you follow them at your own risk.

Conclusion:

We hope that our laptop users will be able to disassemble their keyboards by following the steps mentioned in this blog.
