The laptop is the diminutive form of the extensive setup of a computer known as a personal computer. That is easy to carry and does almost all the processes as a computer does. It has all the features with all attached devices, such as keyboard and mouse, in a better built-in handy form.

What Is The Difference Between A Chromebook And A Laptop?

There are some common differences between Chromebooks and Laptops, which are listed as follows-

1. OS (Operating system)

The main difference between Chromebooks and laptops is the operating system. Laptops usually run Microsoft Windows and  OS. These all are full-fledged operating systems designed for all kinds of programs. On the other hand, Chromebooks only run Google’s Chrome Operating system, a version of the Chrome web browser.

2. Cloud

In Chromebook, the Operating system is a Chrome web browser supported by Google’s services such as Gmail, Maps, Docs, Drive, etc. Any laptop with a Chrome Operating system is a Chromebook. It doesn’t require heavy processing power or a lot of RAM like Windows laptops to perform the function. Instead, it is based on a cloud system, meaning applications, programs, and data are stored. On the other hand, window laptops need heavy processing power or a lot of RAM to perform the function and store the data and information in SSD, RAM, and hard disk.

3. Storage

The Windows laptop requires disk drives or an SSD to store all the programs, files, data, and applications. The better capacity of RAM also improves their performance. On the other hand, Chromebooks are designed primarily for online use, so specs don’t matter as much. In Chromebook, all the programs, data, and applications are stored in the cloud, and files are stored on Google Drive. Chromebooks don’t require any disk drive or SSD to store data. Instead, the additional data is stored with SD cards or USB cards if necessary.

4. Multitasking

You can multitask on laptops in Gaming, Video Editing, Photoshop, customization, and Organising files a manner, whereas Chromebook lacks multitasking as gaming, video editing, and Organising files are also quite tricky with Chromebooks as compared to Windows and macOS machines; you can only do limited without an internet connection on Chromebook. It also Lacks proper storage.

5. Battery life

Chromebook has better battery life than a laptop and does the process faster. Chromebook is only designed for online mode, whereas a computer is designed for online and offline mode.

6. Value

Chrome books are cheaper than laptops. Laptops are costly as they introduced many Hitech features. On the other hand, Chromebooks are more affordable, are limited, and have fewer features. Chrome books are lightweight and easy to carry as compared to laptops.
