Although several business laptops are available, the Lenovo ThinkPad T460 is the most excellent for getting work done. This 14-inch productivity powerhouse, starting at INR 66,160 (INR 1,11,260 as tested), offers incredible battery life, a comfortable keyboard, a precise touchpad, a sturdy chassis, and potent performance.

Design And Durability

The ThinkPad T460 is not the thinnest or lightest 14-inch business laptop at 13.4 x 9.2 x 0.83 inches, nor is it the heaviest at 3.8 pounds (4.2 with high-capacity battery). However, it is small enough to be carried around or held in your lap. The Lenovo laptop uses its size to accommodate a removable battery, giving it a significant advantage over rivals, especially if you choose the 6-cell unit.

The ThinkPad T460s, the laptop's slimmer brother, weighs 3 pounds and is only 0.74 inches thick. It does, however, have a sealed-in battery with below-average longevity. While HP's EliteBook 745 G3 (13.3 x 9.3 x 0.74 inches, 3.4 pounds) is somewhat slimmer and lighter than the T460, the Dell Latitude E5470 (13.2 x 9.1 x.9 inches, 3.88 pounds) and the Toshiba Tecra A40 (13.4 x 9.6 x 0.94 inches, 4 pounds) are both more significant than the T460.

Like most other business laptops from Lenovo, the ThinkPad T460 sports a straightforward yet elegant design. Only the red TrackPoint on the keyboard, the red status LEDs on the lid and deck, and the silver ThinkPad emblems decorate the matte black chassis. The spill-resistant keyboard of the ThinkPad T460 offers a genuinely fantastic typing experience. 

A few bumps won't kill Lenovo's laptop because of its glass-fiber-reinforced plastic casing. The T460 reportedly passed several MIL-SPEC 810G endurance tests for extremely high and low temperatures, shocks, and vibrations.

Security

The ThinkPad T460 has a Trusted Platform Module and CPU variants that support Intel vPro, giving it the security and management capabilities that corporate IT departments want. Nevertheless, I never felt like "bottoming out" or pressing firmly against the base when typing. On the 10FastFingers.com typing test, I achieved a higher-than-average speed of 97 words per minute with a nearly error-free performance. The T460 has a TrackPoint pointing stick between its G and H keys, just like most ThinkPads. As usual, the tiny red nub offered exact navigation. Display

The 14-inch, 1920 x 1080 touch screen of the ThinkPad T460 produces clear visuals and somewhat accurate, albeit not particularly vibrant, color. The maximum brightness of the ThinkPad T460's display is 239 nits with a touch screen and 242 nits without, roughly on par with the category average (242) and the ThinkPad T460s. The EliteBook 745 G3 (317) and Latitude E5470 (278) were brighter.

Audio

The T460's bottom-front speakers are adequate for conferences and watching movies, but we wouldn't suggest using them to listen to music. The output was loud enough to fill two adjacent rooms when I played Chic's bass-heavy "Everybody Dance" and AC/guitar-driven DC's "Back in Black," but the drums and vocals sounded tinny. Nevertheless, I could clearly distinguish a division of sound with various instruments coming from multiple sides of the system.
