1. Update the version of Mac OS or OS X

If you are facing the problem of the touchpad hanging, update the MacBook version.

• The first method is to update the macOS or OS X versions if your MacBook touchpad is not working.

To update this, follow the steps which are mentioned below -:

1. Open your MacBook.

2. Refresh it.

3. Click on the Apple icon at the top left corner of the Mac menu bar.

4. Click to open the System Preferences option.

5. Now, in the system preferences window, select "Software Update" and click on it.

6. Now, you can download the updated macOS or OS X version.

7. Now, you can check whether the MacBook touchpad's updated version works.

2. Disable force Click

• The second method to fix the touchpad of the MacBook is to turn off the force click.

1. Open your MacBook.

2. Refresh it.

3. Click on the Apple icon at the top left corner of the Mac menu bar.

4. Select the option of "System Preferences" to open it.

5. Select the option "Trackpad" and click it.

6. Click on the "Point & Click" option and select "Force Click and haptic feedback" under it.

7. After opening the" Force Click and haptic feedback option, "turn off or disable the switch of force click.

3. Reset NVRAM or PRAM or reboot the MacBook

Sometimes, minor glitches occur in the MacBook, and the touchpad starts hanging. In this case, reset  NVRAM or PRAM by rebooting the MacBook.

1. Shut down your MacBook completely

2. Wait for approximately 30-60 seconds

3. Turn on your MacBook.

4. When the MacBook screen starts up, immediately press and hold the command, P, and R keys

6. Hold down the key for 20 seconds or until you hear a beep or startup sound

7. Release the keys gently.

8. Let your MacBook boot up usually.

You can reset  NVRAM or PRAM or boot up the Macbook to fix the touchpad.

4. Run the Apple diagnostic

• The fourth method is to run the Apple diagnostic

1. All external devices except the power supply should be removed from your MacBook. (in the case of low battery)

2. Turn on or power up your MacBook and press and hold down the D key.

3. Start the process of Apple diagnostic.

4. Allow the Apple diagnostics system to complete its checking.

5. These Apple diagnostics help the MacBook to clean up the issue.

6. After synchronizing, check the touchpad.

5. Reset the touchpad

to reset the touchpad, follow these steps-:

1. Open your MacBook.

2. Refresh it.

3. Click on the Apple icon at the top left corner of the Mac menu bar.

4. Select the option Go to Folder and click on it.

5. Type /Library/Preferences/ in the search bar and then hit enter.

6. Look for files named the following-:                                                  

Com. apple.AppleMultitouchTrackpad.list and

com.apple.preference.track.list and

delete them if they are present

7. Once the files have been deleted, restart your MacBook after shutting it off.

8. Now, check the touchpad.
